SAFETY CHECK DAY #1
The first of our annual vehicle inspection days where club members can have their vehicle, it's recovery fixtures, fittings and club gear checked out. It will be a very sociable event with BBQ (free!)...
Once checked out and passed, your vehicle will be issued with a display sticker confirming it has been scrutineered and pronounced "fit" to attend club runs.

There will be mechanical and technical assistance available on site if simple modifications, minor tweaks or adjustments are needed.
There will be at least one other day (before April 1) to have your vehicle scruted if you can't make this event. After that you will need to make your own arrangements to have a Club Approved Member check out your vehicle - at their convenience ( not yours).
The basic but essential recovery fixtures, fittings and list of club gear needed are as listed under the "Your Land Rover" link here on our website.

Club Approved Members for scrutineering: (as of Feb 2010)

Fire extinguishers:
As an extra service we have arranged for a 'fireman' toi be onsite between 9 and 11am to check fire extinguishers for us.
The 'test' or checks will be to determine:
A) Extgr within it's mechanical pressure test period (not sure but possibly 5 years)
[similar regime for your BBQ gas bottles ]
and
B) Has been visually inspected, gas pressure within spec, powder shaken up and trigger mechanism able to function. (Annual)
The "certification" part:
A) Has stamp/sticker permanently affixed confirming same issued by approved person
B) Plastic dangler thingy issued/clipped/updated by approved person
If the device fails on (A) it costs $$$ to have a pressure test (your expense).
If you attend on the Check Day 21st AND our fireman is onsite then (B) will be free. The Club will pay the $5 fee for you (see how much we care!).
If you need (A) I think the fireman will take it away etc etc - liaise with him.
If no fireman attends then John Harvey will cart the devices away to be checked (for free - Thanks to John & Laurie).
Again though, if it needs (A) then it costs you. Liaise with John H re this.
Equipment, ropes, shackles:
Our QM will be on site with a selection of ropes and shackles for sale (cash preferred).
Sticker Regime:
Subsequently, after April 1st 2010, No Sticker = No Go On Run
(but still, there will be regular scruting to see that your recovery and club gear is fitted, available and operational)
