NOTES:
FUN TRIAL UPDATE (18/1/10)
This is a Land Rover ONLY event.
Similar format to last year; a fun-filled, no-pressure-to-perform (yeah right!) day out where you pit your Landy and your skills against the trial-designer's cunning... Marks awarded for skill and precision. No marks for bending your truck!
This is definitely a family event - relaxed and informal (aside from the arguing and mayhem about who hit which markers) .
Trial Day = Sunday 24th
Starting at 10:30am
Ending at about 15:00 or so
Meeting Place Sunday:
Waitakere Railway Station carpark - 09:00
Bring drinks, food and sun-shading stuff sufficient for the day - it could be a hot one.
ATs will fine - super swamp-donkey mud tyres probably not a good idea as it is so dry.
Regular club rules re Recovery Gear/Hooks etc apply.
Cost:
$10 per vehicle for land access tribute
Saturday:
For those who would like to camp-over on the Saturday night, under the stars, a brook babbling gently nearby and the simple pleasures of mozzies zipping and nipping....
Meet: 16:30 at Waitakere Railway Station.
Bring food, water etc etc (club's MegaPlate self-powered BBQ will be available)
Loo-on-Wheels will be available.
GUESTS:
Your guests are most welcome to join in - in their own Land Rover (assuming they will be joining-up!) or as passengers....
CONTACT for both options:
Rob Parker 021-0260-2954 or rob.parker@xtra.co.nz
Please let him know you are attending and if you will be camping.
NON-MEMBER LAND-ROVER OWNER VISITORS:
You are most welcome to meet us and join in on this event. Please note though that you might have to miss out some sections if there is a high risk of getting stuck and, you don't have any recovery points. We can advise you on this at the time...
See you there!
Neil

Trial Sunday 24th Jan with option to camp on the farm the night before.
The run takes the form of an informal driving trial which pitches you, your Land Rover, and your driving skills against the fiendish cunning of the event organisers, who mark out short courses between bamboo markers. Contestants must navigate through these markers without coming to a standstill or touching the canes, else valuable points will be lost!
The run is suitable for all manner of Landies - off the top of my head, last years' top three point scorers drove a 90, a Disco, and a Series SWB respectively. MT or good AT tyres are desirable, but plenty of good scores were obtained on road bias tyre last year. Normal club rules regarding recovery gear, fire extinguisher etc apply.
By employing an arcane handicapping system of our own devising, we aim to keep the playing field level even for 109 station wagons! (disclaimer: whilst the organisers make every effort to accomodate all types of LR, the handicapping system is based on your vehicle's wheelbase - we cannot help if your white Range Rover has so many winches, lights, and compressors that it has become 25% larger than normal)
We felt that the inaugural run was a great success, and with a few subtle changes to the course, we hope this year's will be even better.
Please let myself or Neil Abbott know if you would like to come along, and whether or not you favour camping on the 23rd. if you don't fancy the trial, then enter under the new Tourist category and come along to watch :)
cheers, Rob 021 0260 2954
