Ken Burrows Memorial Run
Ken was a character, a long time favourite club member and past LROCA President. We would like to honour his memory by putting on a four wheeling day he would have loved in a location he was very fond of. This will follow Saturday's memorial road run that Ken's family and countless friends from other clubs and activities will be in town for.

We'd love to see any and all of Ken's friends and family on this run to one of his favorite off-road haunts. If you are in town for the weekend, please come and join us for Brunch, Off Roading the Bethells Dunes and Dinner at the RSA. Come for part of it, or do it all. If you don't have a suitable 4WD we can try and find you seats in one that's going. Ken will certainly be along for the ride!
Coffee, Brunch & Natter:
Meet up from 9:30am at Swanson Park & Ride 727 Swanson Rd, behind Challenge Petrol Station Great coffees and brunch available nextdoor at the popular Swanson Station Cafe. We'd like everyone at the carpark by 10:45 latest please.
Depart for Bethells Beach:
The convoy will leave at 11am for Bethells Beach. If you have found a seat in a 4X4 for the off-road driving you can leave your car here to collect on our way back out to dinner shortly before 5pm. The convoy will travel for 25mins to a private gate on Bethells Rd, near the beach.
Only 4x4s with low rangeand tow hooks front and rear beyond this point. We will air-down and do a drivers briefing here. Cost per truck to Non-NZ4WDA Club 4x4s will be
$20 for day membership per vehicle. All others and passengers free.
Afternoon tea in the forest:
From 3pm onwards. Johnny Wheeler knew Ken for many years and as well as kindly allowing us to drive on his part of the dunes, has given us use of his private hut area in a forest clearing. Here the Land Rover Club will lay on an afternoon tea in the fine tradition of Overlandy Drivers worldwide. We will head back to Swanson 4pm-ish
Dinner at the best RSA in Auckland:
Sunday night dinner from 5pm at the Swanson RSA Restaurant. 663 Swanson Road, Swanson. Carvery Buffet, Dessert and Coffee - set cost $40 per head. If poor weather stops play early we can head here and start leaning on the newly renovated bar.
